Two South African Travel Secrets -Elands Bay and Drakensberg

Overseas visitors and locals alike are rediscovering some of the gems of South Africa that are still pretty much off the main tourist routes.
Just when you thought that property development had left little untouched on the Cape West Coast go and discover Elands Bay. While the town has not taken off like Paternoster or Yzerfontein when it comes to scenic settings Elands Bay is hard to beat !
Against a backdrop of stunning mountains, rivers and wetlands and some of the best waves in the world at Baboon Point we think this is one of South Africas best kept travel secrets. The word is go in the spring when the Bobbejaanberg Mountains are ablaze in yellows's and purples !
Drakensberg is the other one of South Africas best kept secrets. The Drakensberg starts in the North with Clarens and the Golden Gate National Park and ends in the South at Bushmans Nek. In between you can discover the Royal Natal national Park. The main drawcard of Drakensberg is the mountains. A few spots not to miss are Sentinel Peak, Tugela Falls and the Ampitheatre

Elands Bay is probably known for being one of the Cape west coast’s best surf spots. Surfers from all over the world come to surf the long peeling walls of the left handed reef break found at Elands Bay.
